“Way Forward for Sustainable Eco-friendly Agriculture”
The Jaffna Agriculture Department conducted a mega agricultural exhibition at Thirunelveli, Jaffna District Agricultural Training Center from September 5 to 9. Daily a minister will declare open the exhibition. The first day’s exhibition was opened by Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Minister Douglas Devananda. On the second day Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene opened the exhibition. On the third and fourth day, Ministers Siripala de Silva and Rishard Bathutheen declared open the exhibition. The last day’s event was opened by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
This exhibition is organized under the guidance of
Basil Rajapaksa - Minister of Economic Development, with the coordination of Minister Douglas Devananda and the
Governor of the Northern Province G.A. Chandrasiri .

The Exhibition was to be declared open by Minister Douglas Devananda in the presence of Governor of the Northern Province G.A. Chandrasiri.
This exhibition was held at District Agriculture Training Center Complex, Thirunelveli , Jaffna from September 5th to 9th ,2011.
Basil Rajapaksa - Minister of Economic Development was expected to participate in the Exhibition on the last day – 9th September.
Speaking to Asian Tribune Governor Chandrasri said that the Agriculture Farm at Thirunelveli has been restored to its past glory. He further said that daily school children from 30 schools in the Jaffna Peninsula will visit the exhibition site.
Several important features which include environment friendly technologies, indigenous methods, better resource management techniques, reducing cost of production techniques, create linkages between private sector & local entrepreneurs, create opportunities to get better support, technologies for micro enterprise and many more will be exhibited at this exhibition.
