SRILANKA UNITES aims to:
• Run annual camps that bring together secondary school students (aged 15-18) from across the nation and provide a safe environment in which to break down negative stereotypes, increase mutual understanding of different cultural and religious backgrounds, inspire young people to be a voice in their own communities and identify potential leaders. These camps will include various sporting pursuits and cultural activities such as drama, music, debating and dance. They will also include speeches from and interaction with well-known local and international role models, as well as in-depth discussion and interactive learning.
• Establish centres in every district where young people have access to various resources and opportunities for education, vocational and leadership training, sports and recreation. These centres will also provide an environment where teenagers will work together on various sustainable development projects.
• Creatively use media, sport and the arts in school tours to raise awareness of the meaning, benefits and goals of reconciliation
VISION: to unite the youth of all ethnic and religious groups across Sri Lanka in a movement that promotes reconciliation, creating a peaceful and prosperous nation for future generations
MISSION:To be a symbol for, and an example of, the powerful potential of united Sri Lankans to work towards sustainable development, peace and prosperity
